Out of the blue, I get an email from my website hosting service saying I have exceeded the number of visits to my site. I’m immediately like “say what?”. Cuz, I totally haven’t touched this site in a year (even though I think about writing for it at least once a week).
My first thought was “oh no, there’s bots trying to hack my site or something”. Second thought was “I upgraded the hosting service … but did I upgrade the site?”. Seriously – having a website up and running is not just as simple as typing and hitting Post.
I’m going to blame Instagram. The visits spiked on my birthday and then spiked again after a rash of “Follow” clicks on a recurring hobby of mine. Since I don’t use Instagram, I didn’t take the link off my profile and it’s @theSnarkyFlower for crying out loud.
Blame is a strong word.
I give my thanks to a social media site I don’t use, for prompting me to pick this up again.
Still not sure how this is going to play out, but I do know I need more than one subject matter to discuss. Stress is SUPER important to take care of. Hell, I’ve got additional ammo on that one than I did when I started SnarkyFlower. However, stress is also the lynchpin … everything connects back to it, but it isn’t the driving factor in most things.
What I DO know, is trying to sell something and meet the deadlines and expectations for what you “should” do when starting an internet business wasn’t for me. So, I’m just going to share tangentially-related research and perhaps some of my destressor projects to inspire you to take action on your own stress levels. If it leads to a product, great. If not, also fine. And maybe some writing just for fun (am I the only one who misses research paper assignments from school?). Cuz, fun is the name of the game in this world.
Actually, no it’s not. Fun is the catalyst for a whole host of negative outcomes …. but that’s a topic for another day. There’s good fun and bad fun, let me just say that.
In the meantime, thank you for reading. I will be updating the site over the coming weeks to scrub it of profit-driven design. And the mailing list … which will exist in the ether until/if I decide to make that happen again.
Enjoy the summer blooms! And drink water … it’s HOT this year.
